Now Accepting Applications for 2018

The Phoenix Police Department is now accepting applications for the Citizen Police Academy classes of 2018. The six week academy meets every Thursday from 5:30pm to 9:00pm at various police locations within the city.

Amazing Continuing Education

Last night – May 16 – we had an AMAZING continuing education class at Sky Harbor airport.  We 52 people there (WOO HOO!!). Biggest class ever!  We were divided in two groups.  One group went on the bus to tour the perimeter of the airport while the other group had a classroom presentation on the “city” of the airport.  Presentations were given by a member of the Phx PD, the FBI, and a Sky Harbor representative.

Continuing Education March 2018 Recap

If you missed tonight’s continuing education class for the PCPAAA, you really missed a fabulous presentation!  We had Kirt Messick, Phx. PD forensic artist, tell us what he does and how he does it.

We had a great first class of the current academy #81

We had a great first class of the current academy #81.  We had very interesting presentations on Crimes Against Children by Detective Sonia Stanley as well as Human Trafficking by Detective Heidi Chance.  It was enhanced by really good chicken tenders & coleslaw from the Church's Chicken at 7th Ave/Van Buren/Grand Ave.  Be sure to stop by to say thanks and get some really good food.  We are looking forward to the next class that will be a hands-on session at the CSI lab.  Also, be sure to check out our FB page if you are a current or past member.  You will need to request acceptance as a member to view the page.

Introduction and History to Phoenix Police Department's Citizen Police Academy

The Phoenix Police Department's Citizen Police Academy (CPA) began in April 1986 with the intent to provide business and community leaders an inside look at law enforcement. That concept still stands today with over 76 Citizens Police Academies having been completed and hundreds of citizens having learned "what we do, and why we do it."
